This Anspach & Hobday WCIPA is disappointing. Something not pleasant in the finish that is almost vegetal as it warms up :(

I tried this & thought it was grand. Clearly I don't know enough about Amber Ale :laugh8:
Can you recommend any good Ambers that are available locally? I need to investigate further.
That one was more of a brown ale than an amber and they said it was a Belgian not a good example of either. Try devils backbone from kinnegar to see how it should be done.

Earl Grey.
I had my jab yesterday and read advice to not drink alcohol for 2 weeks as it’s possible (not definite) that it could interfere with your immune response.
I’m sure nobody’s interested in the Earl Grey, but various friends had not read this alcohol advice so I thought I would post it here.
What will I be drinking in 2 weeks to celebrate being vaccinated and being half a stone lighter from my abstention? An AIPA and an MJ Juicy Session IPA that should be nicely conditioned by then.

Small brandy for me while I wait for the brew to drop to 75 for the next addition of citra. Bloody cold brewing in the garage at night so the brandy will warm me through.

What are you brewing
6.5kg pale ale malt
250g cara malt (left over grain)
43g cascade 60min
20g citra 15min
20g citra 5 min
65g citra hop steep @75
Using verdant ipa yeast.
adapted recipe from Greg Hughes book
Got a 65l digiboil boiler at Christmas and first time using it. So much easier than my old 30l boiler. Brewing to 25l so I have enough to keg and some left over to bottle for the first time in years.
Going for a no chill this time. Will wrap it in a sleeping bag and leave it overnight and transfer to fermenter in morning. First time I’m going to use oxygen to aerate the wort as well.
