On my second brew now and with the first one I got it off the sludge and into the barrel after 8 days, when hydro told me to, thinking that was the way to do it.
After reading a few posts, people seem to be suggesting leaving longer.
Which is best?
I will be barrelling and can do it either way.

As long as it has finished fermenting then your fine either way. As your putting it in a keg you can actually get away with moving it a little earlier then you can avoid adding any priming sugars as it will finish fermenting in the keg.

Personally I just leave my beer in the fermenter for a fortnight before moving to the keg as I only get chance to do stuff in the brewery at weekends.
