its about 5kg plus speciality grains for an extract so maybe 10 times 5 = 50 gallon and i'd say more like at least 6kg of grain for a brew so 4 times 5 gallon = 20 gallon for all grain

Why is it that kits are only 3kg to make 23 litres, if you need 5kg to make the same amount?

Since kits are made with 3kg of liquid extract, and make 5 gallons a time of (admittedly quite week) beer, my workings were 25 litre container, divided by 3, is approx 8 brews. 5 gallons times 8 = 40 gallons.

Sorry, i'm a metric guy.

Me too, but it seems essential to mix up metric and imperial when talkign about brewing! :x

Im guessing you are talking about premium kits - they are often less than 23l...
