Hey all,

I got a cider extract kit from a buddy that was 3 years expired and figured what the heck I may as well see if it brews fine. I followed the steps and had a final gravity of 1.003 only a couple of points off of the recommended FG. I figured maybe the yeast wasn't as active as it would be if it was fresh. I went to bottle it but it seemed super dark (not what I was expecting) I bottled it and thought maybe it would clear a bit in the bottles. After a week it's still dark and according to the instructions it is ready to drink so I figured I'd try it.

-Taste is good
-Carbonation could be better (carbonated with 1 cup of dextrose and 1/4 cup granulated sugar)
-Real dark (like root beer dark).

Anyone know why this would've turned out this way???

Thanks,
