I was listening to a woman earlier describing how her son (who was not carrying a knife) was stabbed and died last year and a bloke that works with teenagers who have been in trouble said its on the increase already in 2018, the mother said they have to give out much higher fines and prison sentences and tag offenders, for me the saddest thing was when they were discussing why the kids carry knives and its basically the fear of being attacked not because they want to feel like Bertie big ******** for carrying one, i feel sorry for parents who live in these places where knife crime is on the rise and i am so glad we live in a boring and quiet market town.

The Guardian -

The number of teenagers and young adults stabbed to death in England and Wales reached the highest level for eight years, official figures show.

Police recorded a total of 215 fatal stabbings in the 12 months to March 2017. This was a similar number to the 212 recorded for the previous 12 months, but a 16% increase over the 186 in the year to March 2015.

The number of women and girls who died as a result of knife crime last year was 51, the lowest number in a decade. The number of men and boys killed was 164, the highest since 2009, the Office for National Statistics said.

“Male victims aged 16 to 24 years and 35 to 44 years have seen the biggest increases over the last year, with both groups having 10 more homicides than in the year ending March 2016,” the ONS said.

The detailed figures show that 10 teenagers aged 16 to 17 and 51 young adults aged 18 to 24 died as a result of knife crime in 2016-17. The combined figure of 61 is the highest since 2008-09, when 67 young people were killed in stabbings.

Six under-16s died as a result of knife crime in 2016-17. The number has fluctuated since the last peak of 14 in 2010-11.

Thirty-two people died in shootings last year, seven more than in the previous year and 11 more than in the year to March 2015. However, gun offences are still 45% below the level seen a decade ago.

The reasons for the increase are undoubtedly as diverse as the people looking to make political capital out of them.
Unfortunately, the only proven tactic that has been shown to reduce crime of this sort is the sort of stop and search tactics that are 100% guaranteed to put snowflake noses out of joint - so we'll keep on not upsetting people and watch the bodies pile up.

The evidence is from New York where City mayor Rudy Giuliani massively increased "stop and frisk" with fairly spectacular results. Trouble is, it's expensive and has the inevitable (and rather ironic) effect of alienating those most likely to be victims of knife crime.
Handled badly, it could make (more?) sections of the city unpoliceable.

If stop and search lowers knife crime bring it on and publish the figures so the snowflakes have nothing to moan about.

They'd find something, like banging on about infringement of human rights etc. It's dead simple - chop the hands off perpetrators. Watch the number of repeat offenders immediately fall to zero, followed rapidly by the number of new attacks.

Without wishing to upset anyone, we all know this is mainly a crime committed by young black males as do the police but they can’t/won’t do anything for the fear of being called racist,
Not sure what the answer is but the law needs toughening up big time,
Make them scared to stab/shoot/throw acid.

How about no? It doesn't work in the shitholes where it already is policy. And we're better than them.

Not really practical in a country with a welfare system.

Scrap the welfare system!
Having worked in it and having travelled the world fairly extensively, and witnessed the effects of various types of provision, I couldn't agree more.

Interestingly, German police have declared Flensburg city centre as “dangerous” and have introduced new control checks only weeks after Chancellor Angela Merkel admitted the existence of no-go zones in Germany.

The police introduced the new measures in order to combat the rising tide of young gang violence that has been a major problem in the centre of Flensburg since the start of the year.

The new programme will allow police officers to question anyone within the area, force them to provide identification, and allow them to search backpacks and other belongings without a warrant.

the saddest thing was when they were discussing why the kids carry knives and its basically the fear of being attacked

This is the problem, isn't it? It becomes a sort of arms race. If you live in the sort of area where youre likely to be a victim of violence, you have to have at least as big a stick as the other guy in order to feel safe. But it's the old adage about the hammer, isn't it? The second you pull that knife out, you're probably going to use it.

The only real, long term solution is to get to the bottom of why certain areas have high levels of violence, and solve those problems. We need more robust plans to combat social and economic deprivation; anything else is just slapping a plaster on the wound. That doesnt mean we shouldn't be trying them, any reduction is better than none. But they won't solve the problem.

It's a situation that needs hitting hard,no messing about,no worries about stopping and searching. Just get on with it.
I've seen the result of knife crime, murder and the devastated families it leaves behind. No winners there. ...

Not all the kids carry knives for the fear of being attacked, some are just violent thugs who want dominate and exploit others.
Another big problem is generations of feckless 'baby fathers' who pay no part in their offspring's life past the impregnation part.
The kids find role models and support in gangs and then the process just repeats. No different in the USA.
Also the leftist colonial oppression victim culture propaganda, does not exactly give black kids much impetus to strive for better.
It is probably better for Labour to maintain their victimhood, thus maintaining their vote.

The only place in which knife crime is predominantly a black problem is London, so I'm not sure how much of an impact the leftist colonial oppression victim culture propaganda can be having.

"...in this case, about knife crime being almost exclusively a problem of young black men. That might be the case in London, but as the data that has been extracted from the Home Office reveals, taken more widely it is not true, and seeing knife crime in that way tends to obscure rather than illuminate the problem."

I would need to see the actual figures, otherwise it is just opinion.
The way the Guardian would try to spin this could well be something like, 1 knife murder happened Bristol with white perpetrators, so it's a problem amongst white kids in that city.
London has 42 knife murders in 2017 nearly all black kids, so in that city it's amongst black kids.
The numbers and ethnicity as a total is more relevant than breaking it up into cities.
But then that would not suit The Guardians muddying of waters to suit it's narrative.
