@matt76 hoppy amber v3, I can't remember the recipe but it's rather nice, a citrus aroma, decent head, perfectly carbed, quite light in body but also fairly sweet, citrus hoppiness lingers. I really like this! We'll see if I like it more than v2 in 10 mins or so!

Chores all done so time for a bit of “me” time with a guest ale from @Benfleet Brewery. I don’t know anything about this beer except that it’s a bottle conditioned NEIPA and looks lovely.

Being bottle conditioned I poured the ale slowly and carefully leaving a little in the bottle. Carbonation is good, the almost white head persisted, the colour is a gorgeous juicy orange and as you can see the beer is very hazy as you’d expect for a NEIPA.

The aroma is a really inviting with caramelised pineapple, zingy grapefruit citrus, and a touch of orange. I’m not waiting any longer...

Wow, punched in the face by those bright flavours 🥳 The grapefruit zing and pith is emphasised by a little bitterness and I’d say grapefruit is the dominant flavour but it’s ably supported by the orange and pineapple. A little sweetness helps makes the fruity flavours more juicy. The mouthfeel is smooth and the soft fizzy bubbles excite your tongue. From the slight tackiness on my lips I can tell this ale must have finished with a fairly high gravity. There are no off-flavours at all and the finish is long-lasting with that grapefruit and a touch of pith lasting well over a minute.

This ale is up there with some of the better commercial NEIPAs I’ve had. Bravo! 👏👏👏

Wow, thanks for the great review. I’m pleased you liked this beer. I was very pleased with it but then I’m a little bias😜. I was particularly pleased with the amount of flavour given the relatively small amount of dry hops used by NEIPA standards. I’m convinced that most of the citrus and pith punch has come from the Kveik Voss fermented at 38 degrees. I’ll certainly be making this again. The recipe is in my brew day thread if anyone is interested. 🍻

It's been a busy week socialising, walking, and exploring on Anglesey and now back home with family visitors having a BBQ. My neighbour dropped off a couple of trout after a recent fishing trip, so why not get 'em on the barbie?
Cashmere and Azacca APA fulfilling the mandatory BBQ beer role.
