Have you read the "How to Cultivate yeast from a bottle of Westons Old Rosie" thread?
Lots of discussion about MLF there and a picture on page 5 showing the white plates which form on the surface of the cider. It has been described as looking like the fat which forms on cooled chicken stock and the like. The process seems to take quite a few months, so you need to be patient.
