Got the HLT on for a small batch double IPA. I've got 3.8kg of Minch malt and 100g of crystal for the mash. I'll do some calculations after I've seen how much wort I've got in the copper. I've got bits of Ahtanum, Simcoe, Centennial, Nelson Sauvin, Sorachi Ace, Mosaic and Chinook to go at.

I'm definitely winging it today. And I love that about brewing! No recipes. No rules. No problem.

I'll keep you updated.

Make sure you write down what you do do, that combo of hops should be awesome in most combinations!

Cheers dudes! I'll take the pre-boil gravity and work out the IBUs from that, but that's about it; I won't write anything down.

Haha! That's sort of the idea mate. You end up with all sorts of different quantities and hops lying around, so it's unlikely you'll have the same amount again to replicate it.

Ok, sparge done. Came out with 19L so a 90 minute boil I reckon. Adjusted pre-boil gravity reading was 1.047.

Right then. Centennial for bittering. Chinook in the middle. Nelson and Simcoe near the end. Mosaic, Ahtanum and Sorachi Ace at the end. Mosaic, Sorachi, Nelson, Simcoe and Ahtanum currently enjoying an 80deg 30 minute steep.

I've really emptied the freezer at this one!
