Thanks Hazelwood for the lovely tripel. It looks brown in the picture, but it's actually a beautiful light golden colour 🤔

I'm now following HB's tripel with one of my own. It's really interesting doing a direct comparison like this, it highlights flavours that you never pick up in isolation. There's a rather odd hop flavour in mine that I never noticed before and I'm not sure I like it 🤔 I think HB's was a lot better actually.

Drinking my first brew.

Young's American Pale Ale kit with an extra 25g of Falconer's Flight.

OG 1064
FG 1010
ABV 7.09%

I wanted to check the carbonation so just a half tonight. It needs a little more but it's almost there.

I'm really happy with this as a first attempt. I'm not sure if I've hit the right opacity but it certainly tastes nice, lots of hoppy aromas and flavours.

Last night out of absolute impatience I opened a bottle of my first batch in over 20 yrs. A Brazilian cerveza. I bottled in flip top bottles. At this stage with officially 5 days to go until it's finally ready it's slightly sparkling ( definitely not flat) and quite yummy. I've popped a couple of bottles in the fridge to chill it right down and will give a second tasting this evening. Well it would be rude not to!
