Tasting nice now..wasn't sure if I had overdone the melanodian but is smoothing out nicely. I'm bottling some Belgian pale and lager this week so I'll get some in the post

Time for that 10% Belgian Strong. It’s the start of the keg so it’s not clear because I’ve picked up a bit of sediment from the bottom of the keg.
Commercial DIPA.... Always a gamble

Tinned confit is a treat. Ditto cassoulet. I have a fondness for bottled fish soup too, the red stuff as murky as the water in a Breton harbour.
A can of 7.2% Jackhammer.
What I do not understand is the IBU's are anything from 125 to 250 depending on where you look and yes it has bitterness but if I did a beer with that IBU I would not be able to drink it?

Agree. I brewed a dipa before Christmas with 85 ibu’s and it was deffs more bitter tasting than jack hammer. Not like brew dog to over hype their beers though
Aren't IBU' s theoretical after a certain point?

Ibu’s in a beer can go as high as you can make them go but perceived bitterness is where we reach our threshold of being able to taste them

I went to the local brewpub for a flight, it was great but forgot to post a pic. Had a belgian strong that was 12.7%.
Today I am trying out this one supposedly like and alt bier. it's ok but not like something in dusseldorf.

Not sure Clint but sometimes the IBU's lie to your taste buds. I have had low ones where people say its quite bitter and high ones where its there but not as much as you would have thought.
Maybe one of the scientist could educate us?
