Mine too!

If I'm organised enough to get my order in plenty of time before brewday then I'll usually get stuff from GEB, but it's great having a local shop too if I've left it too late or I need to pick up something.

It is a bit pricey, but it's only a little shop and then there's no delivery charge if you're going there which probably balances it out.

I find the bloke that runs it very helpful so I do try to spend some money there from time to time.

has anyone spoken to them on the phone ? everytime I have tried I haven't managed to get through, I must be phoning at the wrong times ?

Usually around 3 days for mine as well. Missed my delivery this week and it's been sent to my post office for collection, damn it. Will have to ring them monday and see if it can be re delivered.

We don't lock our front door. The postman just opens the door and drops the parcel in. Easy, you should try it.

I don't think its going to be that easy for me at London :nono:

I have but I find face book messenger much more effective

well today was my lucky day, I got through on the phone and after finding out where the bundles were and other goodies that I needed where I placed a good sized order

the 5% discount code saved me enough so that I got the delivery for free and got some money off my total order!

Sorry for the random photo of a Llama but I visited Geterbrewed yesterday to pick up an order and this is what greeted me :D

Geterbrewed is a farm shop with only a small selection of brewing equipment at the front of the store. It's not a good place to browse as most of the good stuff is behind closed doors, they are a great mail order company and my order was wrapped as good as if it were sent in the post.

I do have a local home brew shop pretty close to me and I'll always support them when I can but Geterbrewed has a massive selection and for the specialised beer I wanted to brew it could not be beaten for price, quality and selection.

It's a 56 mile round trip for me so I'll maybe order in bulk next time and get it delivered. The 5% code wouldn't work but as someone noted the 5% would pay for postage if I ordered enough.

One thing has dawned on me, there's no VAT on grain.

Do they have a shop that you can walk into to buy stuff? For example if I needed a pack of yeast could I just go to the shop to get it without preordering?

Yes and no.

As you walk in the door there's a small selection of kits and things like VWP etc.

I did walk in off the street before heading to Londonderry. I got 2 mini kegs which were not on show. TBF the service was very slow but it was completed by a young lad who was also serving the farm shop. It took him 30 minutes to find what I needed. There's also a 10% surcharge for in shop purchases. I think your fine to walk in but bear that in mind.

If you are thinking of ordering then your much better doing what I done and ordered online 24 hours before. When I got to the shop my order was waiting on me and I can only give nothing but credit for the service. We did buy some sausages and vegetable roll which was on offer and totally delicious!

I probably spent £3 on diesel for the trip so getting it delivered and a 5% discount makes much more sense.

If you like looking at goods before you buy (and who doesn't love looking at shiny's!) then I'd much more recommend the House of Home Brew where the very knowledgeable staff will help you with your purchases. You may pay slightly more but are rewarded with great information.

I'd definitely recommend Geterbrewed however for more specialised gear.

My order from Geterbrewed came all crushed together, maybe a point if anyone wants to order the same grain bill as me.

The Carafa II is mixed in with the rest of the grains :(

I'll know in future to ask for it to be separate.

Did you use the custom grain kit service? I've used it once but was expecting all the grains to come all crushed together as that's what grain kits from other online shops are like

I ordered some grain for collection a while back, i didn't use the custom grain selector but rather the separate amounts from the individual grain types, everything was packed individually.

thats one way of winning over a future customer!

As a new customer i was expecting a hit and miss with my order from reading the posts on here and yes i can say the delivery was swift and they did phone me up about a substitution for my yeast going from a 100g bag of champange yeast to a 10x5g gervin g3 satches - is that a fair trade or should i have got 20 to make up the weight that i had paid for originally?

the other thing is i was sent the wrong colour caps, if it was only a 100 then i wouldnt mind but its a 1000 of the wrong colour haha

what would you guys n gals ask for/do ?

Contact them via facebook messenger and tell them the problem. Every time they've messed up my order they've sent out replacements for free. So you might get another 1000 caps. Worth a shot

Yes although the 5% forum discount didn't work. They are crushed by default so you have to tell them if you don't want them crushed. I don't always think it was like this as I seen a few complaints on the forum before.

I wanted my Carafa II separate as it has to go in at the sparge but that's something Geterbrewed didn't know about so it wasn't there fault. Had I known the grains were wrapped together then I'd have asked for the Carafa separate. I'll know next time.

I thought the order was well packed and in a box suitable for delivery. I'll definitely be using them again.

I had that problem with the discount and the grain kit and contacted them about it. It took them almost 2 weeks to get back and turns out they don't offer the discount on the create your own kits. The official explanation was as follows:

"Apologies for the delay, it's been hectic!

Discount is not available on customer kits as they are already discounted in price as you purchase the hops and grain per gram."

Doesn't really make sense to me but they are still cheaper and have more selection than anywhere else

I ordered a flask and 3L jug along with the customised grain kit and didn't get any discount. Their prices are very competitive, for me to order that grain bill elsewhere would have required me buying in sizes of 250g at least.

Hopefully they'll find a workaround as I'm sure their keeping an eye on this thread.

Yeah the custom kits are very convenient. One of the 2 I ordered is the Brewdog Santa Paws recipe (although I had to order the smoked malt separately), it uses 8 different types of grain so probably wouldn't be worth doing without that option.

The other was the Greg Hughes American Wheat beer so I probably could have ordered the bits separately a bit cheaper with only a Litte wastage but pouring the single bag of grain into my boiler for the mash is so much more convenient than weighing everything out!
