Yes, but that is what you want. I have tried other methods but have gone back to the original method of the cling wrap.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I wondered if the CO2 built up under the cling film. I thought it had to escape in some way?
Airlocks bubble with the gas escaping. I'd like to do away with mine and like your idea. I was just wondering what happens to the CO2.
