My PH meter requires deionized water?

Is this the same as distilled water?

They're technically not the same, but for the purpose you require either would do.

Question would RO water do as this is easily got from Aquarium shops I pay £2.50 for 25 litres

Yes, I use RO for mine.

if you use the RO you can use it as a base for water treatment or as I have done used partial to adjust my PH and tap water a double bubble
