Okay, not letting this go.

Let's say somebody linked to a news article called "Local Man Decides to play Easter Bunny Amid Corona Lockdown." and it described what you'd done.

You would get called all the f*ckers under the sun by people on here and by the looks of it even by yourself. I don't expect any likes or whatever on this or my previous post because it's good to maintain a community and nobody wants to put their hand up to agree with being, well let's not say nasty, but saying that somebody needs to think about what they'd done.

My ethos is own it or own up to it.
I rather be an idiot for one day than all my life....

I did post on here saying I dressed up as the Easter bunny and nobody part from you. I got plenty of likes so I Guess nobody agrees with you.
I called at 3 houses, and made the kids day. I call at more houses during a normal weekend to give out shopping that the elderly have requested. Yes I am one of those idiots that put leaflets out offering support. Without me the elderly residents wouldn't have any support.

our local was selling all theirs off a few weeks back at £2 a pint if you took your own container. I racked up with my 2-litre growler which was duly filled and she wanted to charge me just £4 so a quick calc and had to tell her to charge me £7.50. To be fair even then I think the beer may have been in tapped for a while but in the circumstances, not the worst Directors I have ever had.

There have been a few posts in this thread about funding for the NHS.
This is basically what I said in a thread on here in 2017 about the NHS. Nothing's changed apart from the current crisis where they have a blank cheque to spend (hopefully wisely), and £30bn of debt has been written off (I believe), and of course the funding level has increased further with more promised in the recent budget before the whatsit truly hit the fan
First I occasionally visit NHS places. I see lots of hard working and dedicated staff, and state of the art equipment in many places, but I also see people in non jobs, and inefficiencies, which needs addressing. I have in the past used private medical facilities and I see they can do the same job with less staff, that's a fact as far as I am concerned, so why can't the NHS be the same?
The fundamental problem is that it is so big (£115bn p.a, significantly more than a million staff) that an overhaul is daunting. So the easy solution is to leave it alone, or just tickle the edges, and just chuck more money at it. The real solution should be to get in and sort it out.
And the other problem is that it is a sacred cow. Anyone who is perceived as anti-NHS is vilified. So politicians pander to the popular conception that all you have to do to make it better is increase the budget, or put forward populist ideas like making car parking free which does little to address the core problems.

Like most in the UK I want an NHS that I can rely on and am willing to pay for that through taxes, as I have throughout my life time, paying in my fair share and more besides. However I also want to see value for money just like anything else I contribute towards since its my money and that of countless others that is being used to fund it.

Coronavirus: UK confirms plan for its own contact tracing app (this is not going to be compulsory)
Well of course it won't be compulsory. Surprise, surprise, not everyone has a smart phone. I do have one but don't know how it works so it sits on the cupboard beside my chair no matter where I am...

I dont have a smart phone either. Although I'd be glad for the Government to pay for one for me so I can take part in the 'track and trace'

I couldn't disagree more.

The police have been doing this for kids birthdays for a week or so i posted a video early on in the thread no one slated them, many people are dressing up when going for their daily runs and waving at kids stuck inside i think its great.

Excellent. We all know that some kids don't have anything at the best of times, now their parents could have lost their incomes or worse their life. Some children will be being abused, some neglected. To put a smile on their face isn't hard. Community spirit keeps most going during these difficult times.

A nice gesture or are they idiots not following the rules. (see my post above)

Volunteers from a Covid-19 support group in Devon have been spending the day dressed as rabbits to deliver 800 Easter eggs to children in the area.
John Hutchings, one of the coordinators of the Covid-19 Mutual Aid group in Holsworthy, Torridge, told the BBC they had initially asked children to hang up an Easter drawing on their window in return for an egg.

But with Waitrose, Morrisons and the local Lions Club donating so many eggs, the eight-strong group of volunteers has been giving them to all children in the area.
"Everyone is locked in their houses and we thought it would be nice to cheer the kids up at what is a pretty rubbish time," Mr Hutchings said.
Emma Gliddon, from Holsworthy, said her three children were "absolutely delighted" to see the bunnies arrive with the delivery.

Coronavirus: 'London hospital patients stabilising'

The number of people in hospital with coronavirus in London is stabilising, Public Health England medical director Professor Yvonne Doyle has said.
"We can begin to see London stabilising," she said.
"But on the other hand for Great Britain we start to see other areas increasing, particularly the North West and Yorkshire.
"It's very important that the message about staying home and social distancing is adhered to because we are certainly not past this crisis' damage yet."

The UK is facing its fourth week in lockdown, with the government set to review by Thursday whether social distancing measures can be changed.

Ministers are required by law to assess whether the rules are working, based on expert advice, after three weeks of telling Britons to stay at home.

It comes as an NHS boss has warned staff are facing a "hand-to-mouth" supply of protective gowns.

Meanwhile, the PM has thanked NHS staff after being discharged from hospital.

The mother of a nurse who Boris Johnson specifically praised said she was "exceptionally proud" of her daughter.

Wales' health minister said last week that the coronavirus lockdown would remain for "several more weeks at the very least".

And Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon warned there was "no likelihood or prospect" of measures being lifted after the Easter weekend.

On Sunday, the UK's total number of hospital deaths linked to coronavirus reached 10,612.

The company I work for bought easter eggs for all our clients to cheer them up a bit. There was a massive wall of easter eggs in the managers office. A chocaholics dream. I didnt dress up as an easter bunny but delivered an easter egg to all my clients

This is what I wondered when the government started trumpeting the Nightingale hospitals; Where would all the staff come from given that all hospitals are past breaking point anyway and dont they need specialist medical staff? It seems they do

"A comment piece about the Nightingale hospital in East London published by HuffPost is being widely shared. The article by an anonymous ITU doctor raises concerns about whether the field hospital is fit for purpose.
The doctor says:
Critical care is not a specialty in which we can rapidly upskill people. I do not want to disparage those who’ve already put themselves forward; I admire their dedication to the public.
However, the nature of critical care requires difficult decisions to be made, often backed by years of experience. It is not a matter of watching a few instructional videos or reviewing a cobbled-together management guide as many of my colleagues have been asked to do.
These are well-meaning and helpful, but do not replace years of clinical experience."

I assume (and its a big assumption) as all the people in there will have the same symptoms and will all be treat basically the same way (ventilation etc) they will only need to be monitored for most of the day, the hands on part will be at the beginning when they are brought it.

I dont know for 100% but I'm almost postitive that patients in ICU and needing things like ventilators need close, specialist and one to one care. BJ wasnt even on a ventilator and had two nurses looking after him in ICU

Being an old cynic i doubt us plebs will get round the clock nursing by two nurses..

AIUI the standard ICU ratio is one nurse to one patient - and assuming they don't work 24h shifts that means 2-3 named nurses per patient. There was some concern that the extra ventilators etc (and reduction in staff as they self-isolate) would mean the standard of care would drop to a pool of nurses monitoring a pool of patients, but I don't think that's the norm. So Johnson knowing the names of two nurses would be "normal" for ICU - and I suspect even on normal wards you'd get to know one nurse on day shift and one on night shift?

I am astounded by the sheer cognitive dissonance displayed by those Brexit voters currently hanging out their front doors banging pots for the brave NHS workers that are saving the UK.

All who voted, either way, were Brexit voters. Why are you astounded that some people bang pots as a gesture of support ? Finally, "cognitive dissonance" is a tad upmarket for this forum.

I don't want this to turn into a Brexit debate so this will be the last post allowed.
