As detailed in my earlier post, "King Keg Kock up", a day or so after siphoning my brew from my FV into my King Keg I realised it was weeping around the tap and I had to get in there and reposition the gasket ( had put it on the inside like a div). Stopped the weeping, but after a few days still zero pressure in the keg. Decided to try to pressurise it with a bulb and see if I could hear any leakage.
Sure enough, it comes hissing out, finally traced it to the safety release, which seems to just let it all out (you can hear it when the room is quiet, even after the bulk of the pressure has gone). Tested it again yesterday morning, back to 0psi. Changed the lid, re-primed, and now pressure is building nicely. Faulty lid is being replaced, so no harm done there.
On a plus note, beer still smells and tastes like beer, so hopefully no infection from sticking my hand in there last weekend; did clean and sanitise my hand, but hands do have a lot of nooks and crannies to harbour nasties!
As this is my first beer brew (started off with wine a year or so ago), fingers crossed all will be well!
