Chinook and simcoe would go well in an IPA, ahtanum is quite subtle and would get overpowered easily, I have no idea on galena or equinox as iv'e never used them.

I read that mixing a piney hop like Chinook with a fruity hop like Citra make a good combination.
I am doing that next in the Rye IPA.

For the rice or maize you can make a cream ale. Iirc up to 30% of the grist of either one or a combo. They will thin out the body and up the OG making making the beer somewhat lager like (cream ales are probably the closest syle of ale to a lager, without trying to make a pseudo/proper lager). The rice wont add any flavour but the maize will.

All four of those hops go well together. I don't think I've used Galena before but have used the others. Are you looking to use the entire quantity?

Thanks MyQul
A cream ale sounds good
jceg316 I’m not too fussed although I hate making a decent beer then feeling it’s underhopped so I will probably use 200+
Cheers

Brew done, what a difference a chiller makes! 10 mins and it was down to 23 degrees
Og seems a bit high, can anyone tell me if it’s what it should be,it was just 5kg of Pilsner malt and ended up around 1058??
Thanks

What hop bill did you use in the end?

On my setup I have an efficiency of 82%, pre boil vol is 30 L, FV vol is 25L, so 5kg of pilsnser, 1kg flaked rice & 1kg flaked maize would get me an OG of 1071. I don't know what volume you are brewing to, but hope this comparison helps.

Thanks
I skipped the Maize and Rice as I’m still getting to grips with it all.
Hops were
30mins
Chinook 20g ,Simcoe 20g,Equinox 20g,Ahtanum 30g
Flame out
Chinook 30g,Simcoe30g,Equinox 20g,Ahtanaum30g,Nelson Suavin 30g
Dry hop will be a mix of all around 80g
Cheers

I'd be inclined to just go with the 20g Chinook at 30 then put the other 30 minute additions into the dry hop.

sounds like a good beer!

Without the adjuncts my OG comes to 1.052.

If those hops are about the average AA for the type then you've got a whopping 90 IBU from those 30 minute additions.
The Ahtanum is 3.4 Simcoe was 10.4
Chinook Packet is binned and Equinox was 11.9
Hope I’ve not ruined it.
What would be the easiest software to calculate IBU’s?
