Dave, using a pressure barrel....
I don't prime with anything more than 80g of sugar.
Most barrels will come with instructions for use and will most likely tell you the maximum amount of sugar to use.
For example, I think the wilkos barrels say 85g maximum.
Its a very good idea to use a little vaseline on the tap and top seals/threads as well.
Some people don't like pressure barrels, I'm a big fan however for lightly carbed ales/stout etc.
