I was a late starter with metal, I only discovered it in my late teens which was unfortunately around the start of the nu metal era, but System of a down were different enough to get me through that until I got into the heavier stuff. Meshuggah are just on another level, still standing out amongst a sea of copycat bands.

I got into metal about the same time, but i drifted more into the American punk and hard rock directions when I “grew out” of Nu-Metal and pop-punk stuff than into full-on metal.

That's when Metallica turned ****. I went to see them on the And Justice For All tour when they were playing with Slayer and that was it. Lightning and Puppets are the pinnacle.

Seem to have missed Meshuggah, somewhere along the way. Will remedy that on the morrow. System of a down were effing amazing for their first two albums. Couldn't get on with the double album Hypnotize thingy. Must dig out the old minidiscs or whatever I ripped off my eldest's CDs onto.

There was a time when I thought the Grateful Dead were the only band worth listening to and no, I wasn't doing any funny stuff particularly. Can't see the attraction now. Bear's Choice is still a good album and Blues for Allah, too, but I think that world has gone floating off under the bridge.

All credit to Dorst for this one. So we're stuck in quarantine with our favourite beer, but there's only one group or composer you can listen to. Favourite beer's good since if your drink enough of it you can nicely collapse into the arms of Morpheus, but too much of the wrong music can do your head in. If there was only one band you could listen to, in all its manifestations and lineup changes, who would it be? Let's say you've got to listen for at least four hours a day for every day of the lock-down. My choice would be Deep Purple.

I saw them live here in Edinburgh when I was much younger, entertaining night(mostly due to the antics of my mate)

Me and the missus were going through gig tickets and stuff and we can account for about 30 gigs for them or Tim Burgess. @samale put oasis and that reminded me we saw the charlies at Finsbury park. 31 gigs

Most of my gigs are very hazy. I was at Heaton park for the stone rose's reunion. Class
Best place in Ireland for a concert is slane castle. I was at some great nights . The best being oasis Kasabian and the Prodigy in the one headline. Doesn't get much better
