For those not in the know, the coordinated beer swap has proved to be a popular addition to the forum in recent years. The aim is to brew something slightly out of your comfort zone, and then swap 3 beers and their recipes with some brewed by other forum members at the same time.
On the back of a google poll, six different styles have been selected for this year. Dates of review thread opening and the styles are as follows. Posting should be planned for 1 week in advance of thread opening.

Thread opens
16th March - Scottish Heavy
25th May - Cali Common and-or Munich Helles
24th August - Black IPA
2nd November - American Brown Ale and-or Biere De Garde

Best get brewing a biere du garde pretty soon then. I was going to plan my next 6 months brewing over the next few days anyway, so I'll do a bit of reading and get something brewed early in the year. I've not done a biere du garde before, so thank you for this 👍.

I have assumed Heavy and Cali Common in the interests of having everything at the top of the thread. As always, discussion is welcome, I can edit the 1st post if we opt for something different.

Thatl’s the slow burn brew.
Imperial Stout proved popular in 2023 and I definitely enjoyed seeing mine come into form as it matured through the year.

It’s been on my ‘to brew’ list for a long time too, I was excited when it came out on top in the poll.

Oooh, I was going to brew a saison in early January anyway, so I can just repitch onto the yeast cake for a bier de garde. Marvelous!

Reckon I could have a stab at a few of those. I've a recipe for Anchor Steam Beer, which I think falls into the California Common category?

Sounds interesting doing styles I haven't previously drunk never mind brewed 👍
That is the whole ethos behind this swap. Pick one (or more) from the list that take your fancy, design a recipe and then compare your results with the creations of couple of other brewers who did the same thing at the same time.

Got my Scottish Heavy on the go yesterday 🎉. FV taste was good...bit more bitter than expected but that will probably fade. I'd never had done this one left to my own devices, but having looked into it and read around, very curious how this will turn out. Having to be super organized this year as have quite a bit planned coming up...so as soon as this is bottled I need to think about the Beer de Guard...another one that sounds very interesting 👍
