You slate them for not doing the tests then slate them for doing them after running into processing issues, as i have said may times in this thread they cannot win.

I think the problem is their own propaganda is letting them down. Hancock announced we were going to reach 100000 tests by a certain date. That figure was reached on the said date with a bit of creative accounting by sending out a lot of home testing kits on that date which allowed some of the press to hail what a great success it's been. The reality is now showing that the magic figure has not being reached since and now it seems we don't have the facility's to process the tests so why was that target ever set in the first place. I have nothing against them being sent to the USA but when we are keep being told all their actions are science led surly someone should have worked out if we have the science here before grand announcements are made.

I haven't read the article do we know what the processing issues are if its that they haven't enough staff, machines etc to perform all the tests then they deserve to be criticised but if its due to staff sickness or machine breakdown they don't and if they can get these tests done elsewhere (as you) i don't see what the issue is.

#T1TacOps are now off for a few days. It's been a busy set of shifts for us but one surreal incident this week has been this chap. He had been taking his daily exercise in Lane 1 of the M58 causing 2 cars to crash around him & some how avoided being wiped out himself. Stay safe.

It seems the processing involved setting up new laboratories and they haven't been able to do it. As I said great they are trying to get it done elsewhere but was this not considered when the original announcement was made. It does worry me that sometimes sound bites seem more important than substance. If they want to come to my brewery I can tell them how to organise a p!ss up.

Less than 10mins after starting shift & first vehicle we come across in Kendal is from Blackpool. Driver says he wanted to charge the car battery. Is it really going to be one of those days

Lockdown isn't over, please stay at home unless absolutely necessary not to.

Ms Sturgeon has announced on the radio that she is relaxing the exercise rules in Scotland it looks like the scots will be able to do as much and as often as they like, i cannot find anything on the news sites to back this up.

Its on the Guardian corona virus blog

Scotland: People can exercise more than once a day
From tomorrow once a day exercise limit will be removed. However, this won’t apply to those who are shielding or have symptoms.
People must stay “relatively close to their own home”. This does not extend to BBQs or sunbathing.
She stresses this is not licence to meet up in groups.
This will be the only change the Scottish government will announce, but over the next week they will consider further measures about going outside. Some of the things they will update the public on next weekend after consideration will include the opening of garden centres and recycling centres.

Coronavirus: Germany infection rate rises as lockdown ease

Coronavirus infections are rising in Germany, official data shows, just days after the country eased its lockdown restrictions.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), Germany's reproduction rate - the number of people each confirmed patient infects - is now above 1.

This means the number of infections is now rising in the country.

The report came as thousands of Germans gathered on Saturday calling for a total end to the lockdown.

Chancellor Angela Merkel announced a broad relaxation of national restrictions on Wednesday after talks with the leaders of Germany's 16 states.

All shops are allowed to reopen, pupils will gradually return to class and the Bundesliga - Germany's top football league - will restart as soon as next weekend.

But there were protests across the country on Saturday, as some called for measures to be lifted even quicker.

Germany has the seventh-highest number of confirmed cases in the world, with latest RKI data on Sunday showing the reported infected tally at 169,218 and a reported death toll of 7,395.

What did the report say?

The report from the public health agency released on Saturday said the reproduction rate was estimated at 1.1.

While this estimate involves "a degree of uncertainty", the rise in the number requires "a close monitoring of the situation in the coming days".

Germany has won praise for its response to the outbreak. Mass testing and effective lockdown restrictions have helped keep the death toll far lower than in other European countries.

But some have criticised Mrs Merkel's decision to relax those measures after speaking with the heads of the 16 states on Wednesday.

The chancellor imposed an "emergency brake", requiring local authorities to reimpose restrictions if cases rise above a threshold of 50 per 100,000 people.

Outbreaks at meat processing plants in the states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein have already reportedly breached that line, and forced district officials to act.

And one district in the state of Thuringia reportedly recorded more than 80 infections per 100,000 people, thought to be due to outbreaks at care facilities.

BBC News.

Obviously they forgot to stay alert.

I have an awful feeling the idiots who couldn't follow the stay in rule will abuse the new exercise rule (should the government follow Scotland) and gather in places as they have in London leading to a rise in the R number like the Germans are now seeing.

I think this all going to go horribly wrong...
Around here (rural Somerset) it seems like the lockdown is already over. Roads have never been busier, loads of fat people out in gym kit, neighbours having friends round for drinks (and haircuts!).
People have already interpreted the headlines to fit in with what they want.
