An 8.2% dopplebock
This is a good drink. Lots of toasted malt flavour some honey sweetness and very smooth drinking. Hides the alcohol well.

Southern Cross Kiwi Pils kindly sent me by @pilgrimhudd.

Lovely floral aroma on opening with zesty notes of grapefruit.
Lightly foamed head, well carbed and lovely clear honey colour with resiney, citrus flavours.
Perhaps a touch over bittered as you suggested, not in the initial sip more in the aftertaste.

Enjoyed this very much, planning on brewing something similar soon.

Just got back from our favourite farm shop and as always I brought home a small selection of goodies.

I decided for no particular reason to start with the red rye from Iron Pier. It’s nice though is a little hazy and has quite a hard bitterness on the finish.

@pilgrimhudd what sort of rate did you use southern cross. I had been interested and n using it in a Belgian pale or saison but our local brewery had found it came across very bitter and piney. What you think?

Yes, I like it anyway. Light beer, roasty flavour, hint of chocolate.

Last of the day's purchases. When did Schneider Weisse start canning? Anyone know if they are can-conditioned with fresh wort like the bottles would be?

Hi dave, just about to leave work, when home and settled with a beer I'll check the recipe. I thought, it was almost bitter lemon tbh, I like it it but should have made it less bitter.
